GATE Cut-off

GATE marks is the actual marks obtained by candidate. It is calculated out of 100. On other hand, GATE scores are calculated out of 1000 using a formula of GATE normalisation process. 

The IIT Roorkee conducted GATE 2025 exam. The cutoff for GATE EE (last year) can be checked below -

• cutoff for general category - 25
• cutoff for OBC-NCL or EWS category - 22.5
• and cutoff for SC/ST category was 16.6

This year, IIT Guwahati is conducting GATE 2026. Candidates can refer to these cutoff and plan their choice filling.

Pradeep Chauhan was the GATE 2025 topper in the electrical engineering branch, scoring 81.67 marks out of 100. His GATE score was 1000. In GATE 2025, around 83355 candidates registered for the exam, out of which 67701 candidates appeared for the test. 

The GATE 2026 cutoff will be released soon on official website. IIT Guwahati announced the GATE 2026 result on March 19. The cutoff is different for each subject/branch and varies every year. 

GATE normalisation process is done to provide fairness to all applicants who are appearing for examination. It is because GATE is conducted in multiple sessions. In such case, raw marks are converted into normalised marks using the formula.

Many PSUs accept the GATE score for recruitment. Here are some top PSUs that accept GATE scores for jobs -

• Airports Authority of India (AAI)
• Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC)
• Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL)
• Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)
• Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS)
• National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)

Most of the PSUs accept the current GATE scorecard for recruitment. Therefore, it is important to stay updated with the recruitment notifications. 

NIT Sikkim cut off for M.Tech was released as scores for different categories belonging to the AI and HS quotas. NIT Sikkim GATE cutoff 2025 ranged between 360 and 432, wherein M.Tech in Communication and Signal Processing emerged as the most sought-after specialisation for admission in the General AI category.

NIT Arunachal Pradesh MTech cutoff 2026 round 1 results are out. The institute saw the following cutoff for the General All India category:

• MTech CSE - 504
• MTech Innovation and Entrepreneurship - 396

For candidates belonging to the General AI quota, the minimum and maximum GATE scores required were 356 and 407 during Round 1 admission to the M.Tech course. Please note that the cutoff score vary for different rounds, courses and categories. For GATE, the higher the cutoff scores, the higher is the competiton and vice versa. According to the NIT Nagaland MTech cutoff 2026 for the OBC AI category, the required score was 343 in the sixth round. Hence, this category of candidates need a score of at least 343 to be qualified for admission to the MTech CSE course. 

Candidates who have a score higher than the one mentioned here have a better chance of admission.
