IIT Guwahati will be conducting the GATE 2026 exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. Utilise these 4 to 5 months in the best way. Here is a quick yet effective GATE preparation plan that can help you score well in the exam. 

  • Starting from November to December, start covering at least two subjects per day. Pick your notes and formula handbook and run through it. Pick videos for a detailed explanation. After covering that, try explaining the concept to yourself for understanding.

Candidates can check the GATE 2026 answer key on the official website. The answer key link will be activated on the GOAPS portal. The answer key will be available in the PDF format. The answer key can be checked by the candidates who have appeared the exam.

The GATE Energy Science syllabus can be checked below -

  • Energy resources and conversion technologies - fossil energy resources, nuclear energy resources, biomass, hydropower, etc.
  • Energy storage, economics, environment, and efficiency - energy storage systems, energy management, environmental impacts of energy use, etc. 

The GATE paper code of Energy Science is GATE XE-I.

The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted in more than 200 cities across eight zones in India. There are no international centres. Candidates who wish to appear for the exam must travel to India. The details regarding the test city and address will be mentioned in the GATE admit card.

Yes, candidates having qualifying degree in B.Com can apply for GATE exam to get admission to the master's programmes in IITs and IISc. Candidates must go through the GATE information brochure carefully before applying. Also, students in 3rd year or final year in commerce are also eligible for GATE.

The GATE exam is conducted for 30 subject test papers. The list of branches/subjects can be checked on the official website of GATE along with the paper codes. Candidates must check the GATE paper codes carefully and add them while filling out the GATE application form.

Yes, the GATE registration ID and enrollment ID are the same. It is a unique number assigned to the candidates after successfully registering for the GATE exam 2026. The enrollment ID serves as login credentials to check application status, download the admit card, check results, etc.

This year, IIT Guwahati is conducting the GATE 2026 exam. The GATE 2018 was also conducted by IIT. Based on the structure of the previous year's GATE question paper, students can expect that the exam will be moderate to difficult level. Candidates must keep the following documents ready before applying for AICTE GATE scholarships/stipend -

  • Scanned copy of the GATE/CEED scorecard
  • The bank account should be active with the Aadhar card. It must be linked with the Aadhar card. 
  • Only an Aadhar active Bank savings account will be considered since the PG scholarship is released through the Aadhar Bridge Payment Systems (ABPS) mode through Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
  • No frill account, Jan Dhan account, Bank account having limits on transactions/credits and joint account are permitted.
