Hi Oyes,
Here is the basic eligibility for pursuing M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence:
Minimum 60% marks at Higher & Senior Secondary level (10th & 12th)
B.Tech / BE in Mechanical / Chemical or M.Sc in Geology / Geo Physics withminimun 60% marks
For GATE applicants, their GATE score is given a 70% weightage, while for the others their BE or BTech scores receive 50% weightage; the balance percentage is determined through tests, with 10% weightage being given to experience in industry for students sponsored by industry.
As eligibility criteria and admission procedure may vary in different institutes as each institute have their own admission

Not there is no need but you have to give entrance test to get admission in phd , if you are GATE qualify or NET exam then you may be exempted for entrance test

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level examination, GATE tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. Most of the reputes institutes in India accept GATE score for admissions into their Masters program.

Try enrolling yourself in a reputed institute near by which offers good coaching for B.Tech students, do check out the results and cross verify, or you may start self preparation by getting some good books, brush up your basic knowledge and soft skills

As per your query, I would say that there are many institute specific entrances in order to pursue M.Tech other than GATE. But, it would be advisable to opt for M.Tech after clearing GATE exam as it opens more doors of esteemed universities such as IITs, NITs, IIITs etc.
