In order to solve your query, I would like to inform you that Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and Seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and Government of India.

1. IITM.
2. IITD.
3. UPES Dehradun.
4. BITS Goa.
5. VIT.
6. ISM – Dhanbad.

Broadly speaking, to begin a career as a data scientist, you need an advanced degree in a scientific discipline like Statistics, Mathematics or one of the Sciences and a strong technical background. Yes, you can. If you can clear GATE, then you will be called for a separate written test in the institute you have applied to. If you clear that written, you will be called for a personal interview.
There are many good courses in IISC and IITs. Please check the webpage of the Mathematics department in their respective websites.

First of all GATE or CAT does not give you package. These both are different entrance exam GATE is for post graduate admission on engineering mainly in IITs and NITs whereas CAT for post graduate management programme such as PGPM from IIM and MBA PGPM from other institutes.
An engineering post graduate get average salary of Rs. 6 lakhs per annum if he is from IITs and a management post graduate gets average 13 lakhs if he is from top 20 B-schools.
You should plan accordingly
