Most GNM programs require Class 12; HSLC (Class 10) alone isn't enough. If you've finished Class 12 with forty to forty-five percent, you can apply (Science preferred, but many states allow Arts/Commerce). The hospital/college typically follows state nursing counselling or its own merit list/entrance test, plus medical fitness and interview. Fees hover from fifty thousand to one lakh fifty thousand rupees per year. If you only have HSLC, first complete Class 12 (NIOS/open school is fine), or opt for ANM, then bridge to GNM/B.Sc Nursing later.

Yes, typically St. John's conducts its own test and interview/aptitude assessment for GNM, focusing on basic sciences, English, and general aptitude, followed by medical fitness and document checks. Seats are limited and category/service quotas may exist. Keep Class 10/12 marksheets, baptism certificate (if applicable), domicile, caste/EWS, and experience certificates ready. Always confirm the latest prospectus processes and dates shift slightly every year.

Most states kick off GNM notifications between May and August, soon after Class 12 results. Government nursing councils/DMEs handle centralised counselling; private colleges run parallel merit lists or entrance tests/interviews. Track your state nursing council website + college portals. Eligibility is usually Class 12 (Science preferred, but many accept Arts/Commerce) with forty to forty? five percent marks, plus age 17+. Fees vary widely—government institutes can be under fifty thousand rupees a year; private ones can cross one Lacs rupees.

Yes, you absolutely can get admission to a GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) course even if you pursued your 10+2 with the Arts stream, and your Economics Honors degree further enhances your academic profile. The Indian Nursing Council (INC) guidelines explicitly state that students who have passed 10+2 in Arts (with various subjects including Economics, Political Science, History, etc.) and English as a compulsory subject are eligible for GNM, provided they have a minimum of forty percent aggregate marks. Your graduation in Economics Honors shows a strong academic background, which will be beneficial during the admission process. Ma
