The admission process in Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology (ACGCET) usually starts after the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) notification is released. The college conducts the TNEA counseling process for B.E. / B.Tech admissions, wherein candidates are selected based on their marks in the Class 12 examination (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). Dates of Admission and Online Application and Counseling Registration shall be announced in the website ACGCET and TNEA. Generally, students feel that the quality of food served in the hostel mess of Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology is satisfactory. Meals provided by the mess comprise vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, ensuring nutrition balance. Hygienic food is prepared in clean kitchens and meals are planned to suit regional tastes. The menu accommodates various tastes with changes based on students' inputs. While the food has been nutritious, it does disappoint some students with regards to taste or variety on a few occasions. The services are decent enough for those within the hostel.

Direct admission to Alagappa Chettiar Government College of Engineering and Technology, ACGET, for the B.E. / B.Tech course is not possible without the admission process.
