Since admissions to GCETTS require WBJEE or JEE Main results through centralised counselling, direct admission to B.E./B.Tech programs is normally not accessible. Official sources do not indicate management quota seats indicating limited or nonexistent direct entrance. Diploma holders can use JELET to enter laterally. 10+2 with 45% PCM (or 40% for protected categories) is eligible. Direct admission may be possible for any open seats following counselling, however this is uncommon and necessitates getting in touch with the college.

100% scholarships that cover the entire cost of tuition are not specifically offered by the Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology Serampore (GCETTS). Based on talent and need it offers scholarships such as Oikashri (INR 10,000/year) and Swami Vivekananda (INR 60,000/year). Some students with high grades after their first year may receive full tuition waivers under Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) schemes, which exempt tuition for a limited number of students (two TFW seats each batch, for example). Although there are state scholarships for SC, ST, and OBC students, it is uncommon to find a full grant that covers all expenses

The main prerequisite for admission to GCETTS, Serampore's B.E./B.Tech programme is a valid WBJEE score for regular seats via centralised counselling. The All India (AI) quota which takes into account JEE Main ranks (e.g 13372–35395 for SC category in 2024), allows candidates with JEE Main scores to apply. Direct entry may be permitted by management quota or open seats subject to eligibility (10+2 with 45% in PCM 40% for reserved categories), and additional fees.
