Gujarat Maritime University has hardly been a name in national management rankings such as NIRF because the area is narrower, knowing for itself doing courses in maritime law, logistics, and management rather than normal all-comprehensive MBA programs.

 In such a specialised institution context, it has a decent place in Gujarat and does so for its unique maritime management courses. Compared to the premier management schools such as IIMs or XLRI, the newness factor brings it down from the high rank, since it was established in 2017 and has limited scope. Within its niche, it has good value for industry relevance, but according to them, no specific management ranking places it among the elite broadly.

Gujarat Maritime University provides scholarships for undergraduate courses to help students financially. The Merit-Based Scholarship is given to the students who are having good scores at the 10+2 level, generally above 75%, and offers some partial fee waiver.

The Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Scholarship is awarded to those students having a family income below a threshold and will require an income certificate in order to avail of the scholarship, which could cover as much as 50% of their fee. Also, the SC/ST/OBC scholarships will be in line with the Government of the State scheme and will provide concession based on the criteria of the students.
