Yes, there is a huge scope for it now, even more so than there was ten years ago. I personally believe that graduates in this field have more opportunities than technology graduates because they can get hired anywhere that is even remotely related to food such as, but not limited to:
Food companies: Most packed food brands (Nestle, etc. ). Employs Food Science graduates in various departments (Research, production, quality, etc. ). Hospitals: For this, you need to get an internship with a registered dietitian (RD) after graduation and then write an exam to get certified as an RD. Every good hospital employs a few clinical nutritionists and dieticians to check on patients. Independent consultation and practice: After getting a few years of experience, you can become a consultant for health centres (Diabetic centre, fitness, weight loss, etc. ). Depending on your area of expertise. Research- If you are interested, you may get into industrial or academic research. Also, hotels, food safety, quality control, et cetera and more. Hope this helps.
