The Germany Scholarship is given by a neutral selection committee once a year at the start of each winter semester. The scholarship is a non-income-related programme that supports high-achieving students of all nationalities. The total scholarship award is EUR 3,600 per year and thus EUR 300 per month. Half the award is paid by the federal government and private donors cover the rest.

All the undergraduate programs and the majority of the master’s programs at Heidelberg University are offered in German. Therefore, international students are required to demonstrate their proficiency in the German language. However, master’s programs offered in English do not require proof of proficiency in the German language. International students are advised to check the mode of instruction of the programme they are taking admission.
