For taking up home science as a subject at B.Sc level, a student needs to pass the 10+2 exam preferably with science subjects (physics, chemistry, biology) and at least 50% marks and aualification of a relevant entrance test in the case of some institutes.

Candidates require a pass at the 10+2 level from any recognised board, i.e. CBSE / ISC / State Board or the equivalent.
Selection Process:
In most cases, the selection process is a direct one, where candidates either are offered the seats on a first come first serve basis depending on merit and availability, or based purely on the performance in the qualifying examination.
