The Department of English, NEHU, Shillong was established in 1973. The faculty consists of writers, poets and critics who have been contributing to various genres of English Studies, Creative Writing and Performance and some are also engaged with different projects. Students and Research Scholars of the Department are engaged with Seminars, publication of magazines and Creative Writing.
The thrust areas of research are, New Literatures in English particularly South Asian Diasporic Fiction in English; Literature in English and in Translation from North-East India; Comparative Literature constituting various literatures in translation; Theories of Gender and Culture Studies, Ethnic and Cultural Studies and Theatre, with special focus on the theatre traditions of Europe, America and India in general and North East India in particular.

Both are equally good. This choice between BBA and Economics (H) totally depends on your interests. BBA is more business-oriented and the natural thing to do after it will be MBA. BBA, if done from the right place, can do wonders, else not. It is still looked down in comparison to B.Com (H). Things to do after BBA-
1. Get a job in a corporate (the usual, boring)
2. CA
3. Government job
4. Startup (the hot thing)
5. Teaching
You can see the typical stuff above but Economics (H) from DU can take you to places BBA can't. Things to do:
1. Consulting (one of the highest paid jobs)
2. Corporate law
3. Economic journalism (if you have a flair for language)
4. Get into Think Tanks like Niti Aayog
5. MBA in Finance or M.A. Economics
6. Statistics and Analysis
7. Government jobs (like RBI)
Choose wisely. Don't go by pay package but by your interests. All the best!
