Apart from IBPS Clerk admit card, candidates must carry one photo-identity proof to the exam centre. Verification of photo-identity proof is done by the exam centre officials at the entry gate. Candidates are required to show the IBPS Clerk hall ticket and photo-identity proof to the officials for verification. It is only after the verification of documents that candidates are allowed to proceed towards their allotted lab/exam hall. Due to the COVID-19 situation, registration of candidates is done through photo-capture. Candidates need to carry any one of the following photo-identity proofs to the exam centre:

• PAN Card
• Passport
• Permanent Driving
• Licence/ Voter’s Card/ Bank Passbook
• Photo identity proof issued by a Gazetted Officer
• People’s Representative along with a photograph
• Identity Card issued by a recognised college/ university
• Aadhar/ E-Aadhar card with a photograph/ Employee ID

Note: Candidates should note that Ration Card and Learner’s Driving License are not accepted as valid ID proof

State-by-state variations in the IBPS Clerk Prelims 2023 cut-off scores were a reflection of regional rivalry as well as variables like exam difficulty and the number of openings. For example, Uttarakhand's General category cut-off score of 87.25 was among the highest, suggesting a competitive selection procedure. The general category cut-off in states like West Bengal was 85.5, whilst the cut-offs for the SC and OBC categories were 76.5 and 80.25, respectively. Likewise, the cut-off score in Himachal Pradesh was 84, with OBC applicants having a slightly lower cut-off score of 78.75. The cut-offs were typically lower in southern states; for instance, Karnataka had a cut-off of 75.

It is possible for an IBPS Clerk to advance within the bank and pass internal tests to become a Probationary Officer (PO). For clerks who want to advance to the officer cadre, several banks hold internal promotion exams. Clerks are qualified to take these promotion exams after a specific amount of service, typically two to three years. To advance from clerk to PO, one must pass internal written tests, participate in group discussions, and pass bank-conducted interviews. Prior to a clerk being promoted to a PO, certain banks also require completion of particular training courses. Subjects like banking awareness, general knowledge, and aptitude that are covered in the IBPS PO test may also be covered in the internal exams.
