Apart from program-specific requirements, every international applicant (from non-English speaking countries) must demonstrate competency in the English language by undertaking any one of the English proficiency tests such as IELTS Academic exam, TOEFL, and Pearson Test of English (Academic).

Vanderbilt University's admission requirements for international students comprise of English proficiency exam score as a major entry requirements. However, students can manage to secure admission in VU without an ELP score if they meet at least one of the criteria listed below:
- Completed three of the last four educational years in a majority English-speaking curriculum; OR
- SAT score: 630 & Above in Evidence-based Reading and Writing section; OR

Indian students can apply for NTU admission directly through university website. They need to fulfill the entry requirements that varies by programs. We have mentioned below the criteria that Indian students need to fulfill to get into the university:
- Minimum requirement to apply – At least 90% in all subjects including English in 12 board exams
- Direct admission – Medalists, Chemistry, Physics, Informatics, Astronomy, etc. students will consider for direct admission to programmes related to their field of achievement

Southern New Hampshire University admission requirements for international students include official English exam scores as a major entry requirement. However, prospective international students can study in SNHU without IELTS score if they provide at least one of the following documents listed below:
- Proof of a full academic year of high school in the U.S. with a passing grade in one year of standard English; OR
- Proof of successful completion of undergraduate post-secondary education in the US; OR

This is not an option for Indian students aiming to get admission to Sheffield Hallam University. All Indian applicants are required to gain an internationally recognised English language qualification before entering an undergraduate or postgraduate program, like TOEFL. or TOEFL. The minimum Sheffield Hallam University IELTS requirement is 5.5 for pre-master’s programs and 6.0 for other academic programs.
