It somewhat helps because dome universities and exams do have options for an external test score and if you want to move abroad then surely it helps a lot.

You need to give GMAT exam in order to study abroad or else you may give GATE exam, but the outreach of GMAT exam is more than that of GATE exam. So, choose wisely.
