IIT JAM Application Process

IIT JAM 2024 applications shall be scrutinized to verify the data entered by the candidate with the submitted supporting documents, clarity of the photograph and signature. If everything is found to be in order, the application will be accepted. Otherwise, defects in the application will be marked and intimated to the candidate for rectification within a stipulated time. The status of the application and defects marked in the application will be intimated to the candidates through e-mail and/or SMS. The latest status of an application will be updated after the receipt and re-scrutiny of the application.

The status of an application can be checked at any point of time by logging in JOAPS. Candidates should rectify the marked defects in the application before the stipulated deadline. Failing to rectify the defects within the stipulated time can lead to the rejection
of the application.

Candidates will be able to make the payment using net-banking, debit or credit card or UPI until October 12, 2025. Before proceeding to make any payment, applicants should view their application by clicking the "Save and View" button. Once a candidate clicks the “Proceed for Payment” button, NO FURTHER CHANGES in the application form can be made, and the candidate will be directed to the payment portal.

On the fee payment portal, the fee amount and bank charges will be shown, and the candidate has to confirm that the payment is for JAM 2026. Once confirmed and payment is successful, the candidate will be redirected back to the JOAPS Website, where they will see confirmation of the fee payment. If the candidate had selected only ONE Test Paper, there would be an option to choose a second Test Paper. If candidates desire to do so, they can proceed by paying the additional amount for the second Test Paper.

Candidates seeking admission to select postgraduate programmes for the academic year 2026-27 must appear in the JAM 2026 Examination. IIT JAM 2026 for this academic cycle will be conducted by IIT Bombay, the examination conducting body, on February 15, 2026. 

Interested applicants of the IIT JAM 2026 examination can visit the official website of IIT JAM 2026 and fill up the IIT JAM 2026 application form. The online application portal opened on September 5, 2025, and can be applied for a period of around a month. The last date for filling up the online application form for MSc courses is October 12, 2025.
