There are 2 criteria for NITs, IIITs, IITs, and GFTIs. First: You need to have at least 75% in your respective board exam. Second: You need to meet the top 20 percentile criteria. If you meet any one of these criteria, you are eligible. Now the Question arises What is the top 20% percentile? The top 20 percentile means you must be in the top 20% scorer in your board exam. Now next question arises how will you know whether you are in the top 20% of your board? Every year respective board releases a notice regarding the criteria for the top 20 percentile after a few days after releasing the board result. So if you didn't score 75%, do look for the 2nd criterion. Note for CBSE students: It has always been that the top 20 percentile for the CBSE board is above 75%, so I would suggest scoring above 75% for CBSE students.
