HI,
Hard to find out this number, and now you can only drop a single year to get into IIT because number of Attempts for JEE advance is only 2 that too in consecutive years that is including the year you did your 12th

It depends on which IIT, you need to be in top people in your category. It's a little bit difficult for old IIT's. Year by year the total marks for JEE Advanced paper is changing. I say you need to get around 3-10% of total marks for old IIT's.

Only few institutes in India have Aerospace Engineering. IIST & few old IIT's have it. I say IIST is the best and I have one of my friend studying there. I don't know for this year but at my time, 2 years back they offer admission based on Jee Mains Marks, not on Jee Mains Rank. You need to be in top 500 and it's very competitive. For admission into Aerospace in IIT you need take Jee Advanced which is a way more competitive than IIST.
