Social work overall has a good scope but you will find more options recognition abroad. Some of the best sectors where social workers are in demand are in the medical field like public health workers, rehab centres dealing with substance abuse and mental health patients, child welfare, schools, community services, etc.

After a B.Tech degree, students can find jobs in pharmaceutical companies, research labs and institutions in India. However, most Indian students tend to go abroad to pursue their Masters or doctorate studies in biotechnology and allied fields. Some students also shift to MBA and enter the world of business, finance and banking as their engineering background gives them the required quantitative skills to excel in these sectors.

This campus came under a particular university SRM so there is no particular ranking of this college by government but many career counseling website ranks this college.

Normally, no state allows lateral entry to students from other states. Hence you will have to go through process of your own state to get admission under lateral scheme.

Job opportunities for fresh engineers is presently absymally poor. As per report of HRD ministry more than 50% young Graduates are remaining jobless. So will be case with mechanical engineering Graduates also.

Why you want to waste four years minimum in doing B.Tech? I would advise you to obtain additional qualifications like some certificate courses or MBA or PG diploma that would give you a leg up in your present job. You of course have an option to do AMIE that is equivalent to B.Tech.
