Of course, it is. But only when you're into R&D or teaching roles. Otherwise, there's no point in spending your time and effort on a PhD degree. You can get a well-paying job even with a master's degree. 

A PhD degree is time-consuming, requires extensive research work, and has low stipend compared to international universities, so choose wisely.

Students have been increasingly drawn to this field in recent times. When it comes to a career, the most prevalent options are research, academia or working in private labs/ agencies or clearing various government exams. Employees for central/state labs, police, CBI, IB and Customs are recruited via UPSC, PSC or department exams.

The scope of forensic Science abroad is fairly decent. Many colleges offer programs with good facilities. Though the scope of a certain course highly depends on the area we're talking about.
