Candidates are admitted in NLSIU based on score in CLAT. There is no provision for direct admission. The Common Law Admission Test helps in evaluating candidates suitability for the course. Admission to law courses is based on eligibility fulfilment and entrance score.

To become a corporate lawyer, students can pursue a five-year BA LL.B course from their preferred law college or university after completing 10+2.

Students who are graduate in any discipline can also study LL.B as masters. They can then specialise in any field of the law like corporate, civil, criminal etc., or study further for a master's degree in their specialised field of their choice.

Besides the academic qualification, students should have good communication skills, confidence, mental and emotional, to make a mark in this competitive field.
