There are no negative marks in Indian Coast Guard Navik exam. Candidates need to secure the overall marks in the exam. There are also qualifying marks in the exam. Candidates are also required to secure the cut off marks in the exam as decided by the examination authority.

The promotion till the rank of a 'Uttam Navik' is on a time scale basis. The promotion to Pradhan Navik and above is vacancy based. All promotions are subject to your clearing the required qualification course /exams on time and meeting the sea service,  physical and medical requirement for your branch.

Yes, normalisation formula is applied for ICG exams In order to rationalise the marks scored by candidates appearing in different shifts in an objective manner through a statistical method. Before declaration of result, marks scored by candidates will be normalised as per the formula. However, merit will be prepared on the basis of normalized marks of the candidates.

You are eligible to apply for 10th pass Recruit where you can join as Enrolled Personnel {Navik (DB) (Stewards, cooks)} and Enrolled Follower (sweeper/ safaiwala). Recruitment for Enrolled Follower is not carried out through online website. It is generally conducted locally at CG headquarters through Employment Exchange as per the vacancy released to the regions/ units.

These are the eligibility criteria for Indian Coast Guard Navik:

Age

The age limit for the posts is between 18 and 22 years. Candidates should be born between 01 Mar 2003 to 28 Feb 2007 (both dates inclusive).

Relaxation in the upper age limit of 5 years (SC/ST) and 3 years (OBC (non-creamy) are provided to candidates.

Educational Qualification

  • Navik (General Duty): Passed Class 12 with Maths and Physics from an education board recognised by Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE)
  • Navik (Domestic Branch): Passed Class 10 from an education board recognised by Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE).

The salary of Indian Coast Guard Navik is given below:

  • After joining, a Navik in Indian Coast Guard is entitled to get a basic pay of INR 21,700 (Pay Level-3) plus DA and other allowances (based on nature of duty/location of posting)
  • A Navik can be promoted upto the rank of Pradhan Adhikari with a pay scale INR 47,600 (Pay Level-8) with Dearness Allowance
  • Apart from basic pay and allowances, a Navik is entitled to get free ration, clothing, medical treatment, government accommodation for self and family on nominal rate, canteen, and various loan facilities
  • After retirement, they can avail ECHS medical facilities
