A valid GATE score is the general admission requirement to M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical Sciences programme at IISc. The key exemption is of the graduates of Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) who hold B.E./ B.Tech with the minimum *CGPA of 8.0 out of 10*. In case of these CFTI graduates, they may receive admission using academic performance and interview without having to go through the GATE. To all other, it is taking high GATE score as a must and as a main thing on which one is standing under the cut.
