Generally, mass recruiters hire a lot of students from JGEC. If you want to get 20-40 LPA jobs, then go to some better college/university, IITs, NITs, or top private engineering colleges. If you are okay with the 3.5 - 4 LPA job that a generally mass recruiter offers then you can join. Other than this all depends on how hard you work. If you work hard then you can get a job offer of 7-8 LPA in the same mass recruiter companies but that is for the top 1%. If you want better placement, you have to work hard, no matter which college you join. Now, you need to have a WB domicile to get into any government. Engineering college in Bengal oth

It totally depends on how much can you can afford. The on-campus placement is more or less similar and off-Campus doesn't care about your college and care only about skills. So get into a college where you can develop your skills on your own. About the learning experience, I can say that the CS E. Department in JGEC is very good.

Initially, you might not get hostel allotment as already regular students get alloted and stays in the second year hostel.
But there's chance of some vacancies so you might contact the proctoral section for details. If there's vacancy then you might get a chance to stay in hostel.
Ekse you have to manage in nearby PGs or mess. That is also affordable.

I think you might enter with GMR (although slight chances). You'll get IT, with your GMR I think. (spot counselling might or might not happen this year, where you can upgrade to ECE but there are chances of some online counselling for vacant seats, Everything is so uncertain this year) Please look into the detailed seat matrix for this year before filling up. (you will find it any of the WBJEE sites)
Always double check your category and seats present in a particular stream for that category. It changes sometimes every year.
