To join Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, candidates must:
Secure 45% in 10+2 (Science). Sit for WBJEE for 80 percent of the total seats or JEE Main for the rest 20 percent of the seats. If you want to register online they accept it during March-July with registration fee of INR 500. Documents to be uploaded include 10th, 12th marksheets and scores. Go for counseling (July-August). Documents authenticity, pay 9500 INR per annum fees. Intake: 360 seats across 6 branches. Reservation: SC (22%), ST (6%), OBC (17%), PH (3%). Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College offers scholarships:
Merit cum means ( candidates from top 10% of merit list gets 50 % of tuition fee waived).
SC/ST (1 student will get 100% fee-exemption for the tuition fee)
OBC (Equal to 50 percent of the tuition fee is allowed to 50 and above candidates).

Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is quite recognized, and by the IIRF 2024, JGEC stands at position 159. It was set up in 1961 and currently provides B.Tech., B.Tech lateral and M.Tech. in 6 disciplines and 360 students intake . The colleges have placed its students pretty well in the market; as in, the year 2019, 80% of the students were placed. This sector is represented by such companies as TCS, Bosch, Capgemini, and Infosys as top recruiters. Of the total human resources, 20 are PhD holders and 31 PG degree holders .
