But, I would like to advise you to go for microbiology because there are a lot of research and experiments going on various biological elements which are yet to be discovered. You can also go for research.

No, that's not possible, GATE is for M.Tech course.

M.Sc applied microbiology, as you will go through various subjects which is extra, and you will explore well as compared to the general microbiology.
