Yes, to get admission to the M Tech in Civil Engineering course, you need to score at least 55 to 60% marks in the B Tech Civil Engineering or a related course and get excellent marks in relevant entrance tests like GATE, Andhra Pradesh PGECET, CUET PG, Karnataka PGCET, etc.
Almost all of the colleges give admission on the basis of valid entrance test scores and often conduct a Personal Interview round as well.

There are around 520 full-time MTech Civil Engineering colleges in India, out of which 401 are private colleges and more than 100 fall under government jurisdiction. For admission to the M.Tech Civil Engineering course the most prominent entrance exam is the GATE exam. There are approximately 326 colleges in India that give admission on the basis of the GATE exam score. You need to get excellent marks in the exam to get shortlisted for admission at popular colleges.

To apply for the MTech Civil Engineering course, you need to keep an eye on all the important notifications on the websites of the institutions you're targeting as they release the application forms in the online mode.
You just need to fill out all the relevant details correctly, upload the scanned copies of documents like the mark sheet and identity proofs, and pay the application fee. A few colleges may still follow the old pattern of offline form filling, it is very less likely to happen, though.

The selection for the M.Tech Civil Engineering course is majorly done on the basis of valid entrance exam scores like that of GATE, Andhra Pradesh PGECET, CUET PG, CEETA, etc. Most of the colleges also conduct a Personal Interview round following the exam result declaration.
If you want to get into the IITs and NITs in India, you need to prepare really well for both the entrance test and interview process to grab a seat for yourself. Interestingly, if you're an IIT BTech graduate with at least 75% marks or 8 CGPA in graduation, you are eligible for direct admission to the M.Tech course.
