To secure a seat at NIT Goa for M.Tech under OBC reservation, target a cutoff score of up to 531 or higher to get listed in the Round 1 cutoff. The top two specialisations during Round 1 admission were CSE - 531 and VLSI Design - 459 for the same category.

For top M.Tech branches like CSE and CSE (Information Security), the cutoff scores stood at 731 and 694, respectively. Considering the first round cutoff 2025, other top M.Tech specialisations were Microelectronics and VLSI Design with a cutoff score of 647 and Electronics Design and Technology (600). This is a quite subjective question, and the answer to this would differ from one person to another. You should have some clarity in mind regarding your career plans and interests. Both options have their own upsides. Opting for an M.Tech degree can be helpful if you wish to get advanced knowledge and enter into the research domain in the field of genetics, while taking up a job after completing a BTech degree in Genetic Engineering can also be a good option to become financially independent, with recruiters offering decent salaries to skilled and talented graduates.
