To score excellent marks, you should ideally start preparing for the BTech Marine Engineering entrance exam at least 8 to 10 months before the final exam is supposed to take place so that you can cover the maximum chunk of the exam syllabus and have a good amount of time for revision at the end. You should also practice previous-year question papers and mock tests to increase your chances of getting excellent marks and being shortlisted for admission.

Having an IMU CET 2024 ranking of 9,000 under the general category, finding admission in Marine Engineering at leading institutions such as IMU Kolkata or IMU Chennai might prove tough, considering that their earlier closing ranks were well under 1,000.
But you may also look at other good institutions whose cutoff ranks are higher. For example, some of the affiliated colleges and private maritime institutions have had closing ranks ranging beyond 9,000 in previous years.

IMU CET or CUSAT both universities are great at their places selection of university depends on the your goal and future plans.
If you prefer a specialised focus on maritime studies and want to immerse yourself in the maritime industry, IMU may be the better choice.
If you value a broader engineering education with a strong reputation and good infrastructure, CUSAT could be a great fit.
