Yes — you can apply for IMU CET this year
Eligibility (simple terms)
For IMU CET:
- If you have just appeared for Class 12 this year, you are eligible
- You don't need the result at the time of applying
- You just have to pass later with required marks
Basic requirements (important)
For most IMU courses (like B.Tech Marine Engineering):
- Subjects required:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Minimum marks:
- Around 60% in PCM (combined)
- Around 50% in English (in 10th or 12th)
These are standard conditions for maritime courses.

Yes, you can take admission in Class 12 with 60%—no problem.
And no, there isn't any SC/ST reservation in Class 12 admissions based on marks.
🏫 Admission to Class 12 (how it actually works)
Class 12 admission isn't like college entrance exams. It's mostly a continuation from Class 11.
- If you're already in a school → you're usually promoted to Class 12 after passing Class 11
- If you're changing schools → they'll check:
- Your Class 11 marks (60% is generally acceptable)
- Stream availability (Science/Commerce/Arts)
- Seats in the school

Yes, clearing the IMU CET (Common Entrance Test of Indian Maritime University) is compulsory for getting admission to the B.Sc. Nautical Science course. Along with this entrance test, one has to qualify the personal interview and medical test as well.

Yes, there is negative marking in the IMUCET exam. As per the negative marking, 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response, while unattempted questions carry no penalty.

In the IMUCET exam the questions are in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four options for each. There are no descriptive type questions in the exam.
