Yes, there is negative marking in the IMUCET exam. As per the negative marking,   0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response, while unattempted questions carry no penalty.

In the IMUCET exam the questions are in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four options for each. There are no descriptive type questions in the exam.

To be eligible for IMU CET (2026) for 4-year B.Tech programmes, candidates must be at least 17 years old and fulfil academic criteria: 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM), scoring a minimum of 60% average in PCM, and at least 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th.  Age limits vary by category: e.g. for males in General – up to 25, OBC up to 28, SC/ST up to 30; for females – slightly higher upper limits.  Medical fitness and eyesight norms per DG Shipping are required.
