The students get into the Merchant Navy as Junior Engineers after taking BTech Marine Engineering course in IMI. They are given certification as Marine Engineers after doing six months in the sea. This qualification qualifies them to work in the shipping career world wide.

IMI grants admission to BTech Marine Engineering depending on the performance of a candidate in IMU-CET examination. The candidates are to be subjected to centralized counselling organized by IMU, whereby seats will be assigned in order of merit and in accordance to preferences. The session usually starts in the months of August or September annually.

Tolani Maritime Institute offers BTech in Marine Engineering at the UG level for 4 years with an annual intake of 240 students. Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 60% in PCM with 50% in English. The Institute offers BTech in Marine Engineering on the basis of IMUCET, and TMISAT scores. The shortlisted candidates must appear for personal interview, and medical examination. Post qualification of all the rounds, candidates must appear for the document verification and fees payment.

Almost all of the colleges offering the B Tech Marine Engineering course release the application forms in the online mode with prior information in advance and enough time for everybody to fill out the form from the comfort of their homes, without having to commute to the college. You need to upload the scanned copy of all the important docs and submit the application fee to complete the procedure.
Having said that, a few colleges might still follow the old pattern of offline form filling, so you must confirm by visiting the website of your desired colleges to be on the safer side.

Well, yes. Almost all of the popular BTech Marine Engineering colleges in India offer some sort of marks relaxation to students belonging to reserved categories like SC/ST/OBC/PwD. Usually, the marks relaxation is of 5%, which may vary from college to college and on the basis of the course level.
