Xavier Institute of Communications has not specified any XIC OET syllabus. However, candidates can go through the below-mentioned topics in order to perform well in XIC entrance exam.
Language Skills:
In this section of the exam, language ability of aspirants will be tested. Questions will be from topics related to correct the spellings, singular, plural, synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases, one-word substitutes, etc.
General Knowledge and Knowledge of Media:
In this section, questions related to general knowledge and current affairs awareness will be asked wherein an aspirant's aptitude regarding the same would be tested. Thus, candidates need to be up-to-date with political, social and economic happenings of the country and abroad.
Logical and Analytical Skills:
In this section, a candidate's ability to identify a problem and the means to solve it are tested. Aspirants should practice questions from topics like Series, Blood Relations, Directions, Critical Reasoning, Syllogism and Analogy.

Firstly, there is no stopping you to take up Journalism. If you dread the technical part of engineering, then take up less technical work in technical writing or training and development in organisations that can offer you jobs because of the degree you have earned and your interest in skills outside of technical too. While you do some work in an organisation and build your personality with corporate exposure, take your time to explore what area of journalism, what course you want to take up and the best places to study, why exactly, etc. There is also a chance that you can communicate with people in your organisation to be part of the corporate communication department. That is similar to being in a journalism department in the IT world! So, in short, I recommend you to take some work experience in a lesser technical field and do all the exploring before you take a plunge.
