You can opt for any course for your UG programme, as the field of education does not really matter, when you apply for a UPSC exam. What matters is that, you should be a graduate and how you perform in the exam. To prepare for the exam, refer to class 9th to class 12th NCERT books of Geography, History and Civics. Read at least 2 newspapers daily, and join the mock test series in order to clear the exam.

NIMC is a decent college with good faculty members and some industry leaders as the guest faculty members. So pursuing mass communication from here can be a good option. But when it comes to Masters, I would suggest you to consider this as the last option as their course module is same as of the Bachelors and I don't find it very interesting for Masters.
