The MAT composite score is referred to as marks calculated on the basis of performance in the first four sections of the exam as these sections are related to the skills required over a longer period of time in the management field. The MAT composite score is given on a scale of 199 to 801. The composite score on MAT result, less than 200 or more than 800 is rare. Sectional scores less than 20 and more than 80 are rare
All scores below 200 are stated as 199 and all scores above 800 are reported 801. This means, even if you get scores less than 199, your composite score will be reported as 199. Similarly, for scores above 801, it will be reported as 801 only. By the above explanation of MAT composite score calculation, it is understood how AIMA takes raw scores and represents it on a scale of 199 to 801. However, for calculation of MAT Percentile, following formula is applied:
Composite scores obtained by a candidate/total number of candidates X 100= MAT percentile shows the number of candidates scoring less than a particular candidate in MAT exam. Some of the B-Schools accepting MAT scores offer admission on the basis of composite scores while the remaining take MAT percentile for the final selection of candidates. Besides, MAT percentile and composite scores, many MBA colleges conduct Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Written Ability Test as part of Selection Criteria.

The cut-off is not pre-defined at BIMTECH. It depends upon the quality & number of applications received and varies from year to year for different courses. Moreover, score of CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/MAT is not the sole criteria for admission. The admission is based on the overall merit score which is calculated on the basis of different parameters and weightage. Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/MAT score for the further selection process of written aptitude and personal interview round.
