MAT is run by a private B_Schools association. And CAT is run by IIMs. CAT is generally more difficult than MAT.

Hello,
I don't think that the CAT percentile can be of much help for admission into the Ph.D. programme.

The entrance test paper consists of multiple sections like logical reasoning, lateral thinking, English & maths. You can join preparatory classes for CAT and sharpen your skills in respective sections. Also, maths is not difficult as they cover basic maths of upto 12th standard level
CAT has three sections. Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal, Data Interpretation, and logical Reasoning.

Hi Sanjana,
PGCET is not accepted by SDMIMD. You have to go through MAT/CAT/CMAT/XAT exams. All these exams are accepted by SDMIMD. You can write any of those exams and apply for the college. 75% in BBM is a good score.

It is a very low CAT score and you may face difficulties in admission. As you have a decent academic profile and with a decent CAT score around 75 to 85 percentile will get into a top B-school.

CAT or any other qualifying exams are totally based on quantitative aptitude, data interpretation, Logical reasoning, verbal. Maths is an inherent part of these exams. It is not about is it advisable for somebody like you mentioned to go for CAT or not. Rather it is about whether you 'want' to get into Iims or not because CAT can get you into IIM.
