The main difference between MBA and PGDM is that MBA is a degree and is offered by universities, whereas, PGDM is a post-graduate Diploma offered by AICTE approved institutes.
Indian universities are governed by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which authorizes them to award degrees such as the MBA (Master of Business Administration), also referred to as MMS (Master of Management Studies) in Mumbai. These universities follow the UGC's prescribed course content. In contrast, well-known management institutes design their own curriculum based on industry input and business relevance. These institutes are not governed by the UGC.
