MBBS in India

Dear Rakesh,
If you plan to do your PG abroad, you should ideally pursue it from USA, UK, Canada, NZ, Australia. Only then your qualification will get recognition in India by MCI.
To take up residency in these countries you have to appear for licensure exams in these countries like USMLE, PLAB etc. PLAB is better to pursue as it is comparatively easier than USMLE. Some doctors take up PG in Russia, Germany and some other countries but these qualifications will not be recognized by MCI.

Dear Esha,
The standard of Medical education in countries like USA, UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand is better than in India. In terms of cost, it is very expensive and not affordable for many.
Besides, these countries a lot of Indian students are going to countries like Russia, Philippines, China, etc. The main driving factor is the limitation of MBBS seats in India and hence very few students get admission in free seats or government quota in India.
So, if you compare between these countries and India, my answer is that choose a good college in either India or any of these countries as the quality of education matters a lot in the long run. In India many colleges lack proper infrastructure, facilities and quality faculty. So do many colleges in these foreign countries.
So, India should be preferred if you get a good college at affordable cost or you can consider going abroad to a reputed institution in any of these countries. Do your research well about the Institute as many agents promote institutions where they get more profit.

For a PG Medical course and to practice in Australia, you must obtain the AMC (Australian Medical Council) certificate. To obtain the AMC Certificate you must first clear required AMC pathways that is AMC MCQ and AMC Clinical. You must pass the AMC MCQ before you could sit for AMC Clinical. As an international student you must also provide a valid IELTS score.
After you have cleared AMC Clinical, your qualifications and credentials will be evaluated and approved by ECIS. Only after ECIS validates your qualification the AMC will provide you the necessary certificate. It is also important that you communicate with an Australian Medical School for registration and clinical jobs before starting the entire procedure.

Yes, paid clinical fellowships are available. You must go through certain verification processes and obtain work permit of the particular country. For example: if you apply for University of Calgary in Canada, your credentials must be verified through the Physician Credential Registry of Canada (PCRC). As an MBBS you are eligible to apply. You must also sit for the USMLE.
Exact information and requirement is available on the websites of the universities. You must start communicating with the department, and need to be accepted by the university before going forward.

In India, after 10+2 students have to appear for entrance test like PMT, CBSE or AFMC etc to get admission into about five-year graduate programme of MBBS. After a valid MBBS degree, you can practice medicine independently or either pursue a post graduate degree of MD or MS.
If you plan to study medicine abroad , you have number of options to consider. Studying medicine in US /UK/Australia can be very expensive. So if you are thinking of alternatives it is here. To get a quality and affordable medical education you can choose Russian countries, China, Philippines, Germany, St. Lucia, Ukraine and the America- based countries.
Medical education in Russian countries is existent since long and comprises medical institutions in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Medical education in China is limited to only the 30 medical institutions approved by the Ministry of Education. Medical education in America-based countries such as the medical institutions of Philippines, Caribbean islands and Central America have also become popular in the recent times.
Among all the above options, there is a strong trend for admission to medical colleges in China due to the fee reduction by up to 35 per cent compared to last year, the permission given by the Medical Council of India (MCI) to Indian students pursuing MBBS in China to do internship in India and also the decrease in course duration to 4 1/2 years from six years. Any student intending to join MBBS course in any foreign medical institution will have to approach the MCI for issue of the Eligibility Certificate.Till few years back, the privilege of exemption from the screening test existed for some institutions in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Nepal and such other countries, but MCI recently notified the withdrawal of exemption.
On completion of MBBS course, the candidate has to appear for the Screening Test conducted by the National Board of Examinations in New Delhi, and on passing the same, they will be awarded with the provisional registration certificate by the MCI.
Students will then be required to undergo one-year internship in approved medical hospitals in India after which a registration number will be granted to them for practice as a doctor in India.
