Yes, JIPMER Puducherry is a government institute. It is an Institute of National Importance (INI) and a tertiary care referral hospital under the direct administrative control of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Indian Government, with autonomy to run its internal administration. JIPMER was established in 1823 as the 'Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry' by the French government to train French citizens and local residents in medicine.

The candidates cannot secure a seat in any government medical college without appearing for the NEET exam. The seats are given based on the score of the NEET. The candidates after giving the NEET Exam need to check the merit list of the college and after clearing the exam the candidates are eligible for counselling. INI SS 2026 application form was released on October 13, 2025. Candidates have to register first at aiimsexams.ac.in to access the applications for INI SS 2026 January session.  INI SS 2026 application process starts with registration followed by filling up details in application form, uploading images, and paying online registration fee. Deadline to submit application form for INI SS 2026 exam is October 31, 2025.

Yes. There is a provision of negative marking in AIIMS INI SS exam as per the existing exam pattern. INI SS 2026 January session pattern will be released along with the official information brochure. Candidates get +1 mark for right answer and -1/3 for wrong answer. INI SS 2026 exam will be held on November 22, 2025. The exam is held in computer-based mode.

Candidates who seek admission to AIIMS have to appear for stage-2 INI SS.  They have to qualify INI SS stage-1 srtitten exam to appear for departmental assessment exam. To qualify for AIIMS Seat allocation a candidate must obtain 50 percent or more marks in Stage-I & Stage-II combined. In case a candidate gets marks more than 50 percent in Stage-I but less than 50 percent marks in Stage I & II combined, he/she will not be treated as qualified for AIIMS Seats.

INI SS exam is held in computer-based mode. The exam pattern comprises details about mode, medium, total number of questions, allotted time etc. INI SS stage-1 is held in English language. Total 80 questions are asked and candidates get 1.5 hours to answer them. For each correct reponse, 1 mark is awarded while for wrong response, -1/3 mark is deducted.

No. AIIMS will not send INI SS to individual candidate. He/she will have to download admit card for INI SS from the official website by logging to the account, providing application number and password. The admit card comprises crucial details including name and address of exam centre. If a candidate doesn't receive admit card or finds some discrepancy in details, he/she should immediately contact the Assistant Controller of Examinations, AIIMS, New Delhi through email

Candidates have to fulfill certain eligibility requirements to apply for INI SS 2026 exam. The eligibility criteria vary as per the course.  For DM/MCh course, candidates should have completed MD/MS degree from a recognised university/college. Candidates should have completed MBBS degree for MD in hospital administration. Age criteria varies for admission at Institutes of National Importance (INI) and AIIMS.
