Science is needed pursue such courses, because the job of a Merchant is very technical, and hence requires appropriate education. Hence, commerce is not usually considered for these jobs.

Since you are in one of the top profession, I would suggest you to continue with it only. If you want to switch to MBA, you need to give CAT exam, and you need to clear it with good percentile to get any of the top institutes like IIMS or St. Xavier College etc. Yes, you are eligible, because you have 50 percentile score in your graduation. Distance vision unaided should be 0.5 (6/12) in each eye or 0.67 (6/9) in better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in other eye. Color blindness is not permitted.

Apply for GP rating course from a reputed institute which has a good placement record. There are various jobs in the merchant navy starting from deck cadets to officer level jobs. You will first need to complete 12th with PCM subjects. Then there are various options for you can apply for deck cadet job in Merchant Navy. Similarly if you have completed B.Tech in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology then there are various jobs for you in the Merchant Navy.

B.Sc in nautical Science is not a technical course. The best job it would be able to get you is of navigator or related. Diploma in Nautical Science is a technical course and there are many vacancies released each year for Diploma holders. For example, Technical Entry in Navy is for Diploma Holders.
