The group selected in MHT CET decides the subjects to be studied. For PCM group, candidates have to study Physics, Chemistry and Maths, while PCB students have to study Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

The MHT CET 2026 syllabus is released on the CET website, cetcell.mahacet.org. Candidates who are preparing for the exam can check the detailed syllabus for MHT CET on the Shiksha website. The syllabus for classes 11th and 12th of the PCM and PCB groups is listed here: MHT CET syllabus.

The high-weightage topics from class 11 and 12 Physics as per previous year paper analysis are Current Electricity, Waves, AC, Magnetism, Laws of Motion, Work, Power and Energy. From Chemistry, the high-weightage topics are s and p block elements, Coordination compounds, Thermodynamics, Gaseous state, Chemical bonding, Atomic structure, Polymers, Environmental Chemistry, Organic chemistry. In Mathematics, the high-weightage topics are Sequence and Series, Vectors and 3D, Integral and Differential Calculus, and Definite and Indefinite Integral.

It is not mandatory to attempt all questions in MHT CET 2026. Since there is no negative marking, students should attempt all questions without fear of losing marks.

The MHT CET syllabus is of medium difficulty level. The topics covered in MHT CET syllabus is that of the Maharashtra state board for classes 11 and 12. Students can prepare for MHT CET exam using their NCERT textbooks and score a good score. Candidates are however advised to refer some additional books in order to score good marks in MHT CET. Also, not all topics of class 11 are covered in MHT CET exam whereas all class 12 topics are part of MHT CET syllabus.

The MHT CET chapter-wise weightage for classes 11th and 12th is as follows:
- Class 11th: 20% weightage
- Class 12th: 80% weightage

130 is a good score in the MHT CET exam. To obtain 130 marks in MHT CET, students have to cover all the topics from the MHT CET syllabus and practice the MHT CET PYQs and sample papers.

Candidates should take the MHT CET mock test in a time-bound manner within a simulated environment. Ieally students should take the mock test within the exam duration 9 am to 12 noon or 3 PM to 6 PM, without any break. This will help adjust to the exam-taking environment. It must also be ensured that they take the test in a quite environment either alone or with a group of fellow MHT CET aspirants. Creating a simulated test-taking experience is important. Getting good marks in MHT CET mock tests do not guarantee that you will also score good marks in the actual exam. However, if you are solving the mock tests regularly, it will surely help in increasing the accuracy, time management and performance of exam.
