Yes, international students are allowed to do part-time work while studying. Part-time work is a great way to help yourself in paying off your tuition fees. It is not cheap to live in the United States. The cost of living in the United States depends on the tier of the city you live in. Although you are in the United States on a study visa, international students are allowed to work for 20 hours per week on part-time jobs to cover their expenses. There are a lot of part-time jobs available in the United States, you can work as a waiter or cashier in a restaurant. You can even take private tuition classes.

No, Michigan State University is not an Ivy League School. The Ivy League Schools in US are synonymous with excellence and world-class education. Basically, Ivy League is an American collegiate athletic conference comprising eight private research universities in the Northeastern United States. The Ivy League schools are; Brown University, Columbia University, University University, Dartmouth College, Ivy5 University, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania and Yale University.

When it comes to MSU's rankings, it is one of the top 150 universities worldwide with the rank #136 in the top-ranking publisher's ranking in 2024 and #152 in 2025. As per another-ranking publisher, Michigan State University has claimed the spot #63 in Best National Universities in United States in 2025. Times Higher Education has placed MSU at #116 in World University Rankings in the 2024 edition.
