MSU competes in the NCAA Division I Big Ten Conference. There are 23 Division I intercollegiate athletic teams of this university. Some of the men's sports teams are Football, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Tennis, etc. Women's sports teams are Basketball, Field Hockey, Soccer, Cross Country, Tennis, etc. Furthermore, this university's intramural and sports programme is one of the largest in the nation. The applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field such as Mathematics, Physics, or Electrical Engineering for admission to MSU MSc in CS. GRE test scores are also required. Do submit the English language proficiency score too.

Michigan State University ranked at #151 in Shanghai rankings 2025. In the previous year, this university was placed in the same position. This shows that there is no change in the Shanghai rankings. Parameters used to calculate these rankings are quality of education, quality of faculty, research output, and per capita performance. Law, Sociology, and Political Sciences courses of this university also rank well in the Shanghai 2025 rankings.

The UG Business course of Michigan State University has been ranked at #24 in 2026 rankings by U.S. News & World Report. In the previous year, this course ranked at #27. Also, for a lot of courses, this ranking publisher ranked Michigan State in 2025 such as Supply Chain Management MBA at #3, UG Mechanical Engineering at #26, Chemical Engineering PG at #53, Civil Engineering PG at #31, Graduate Business School at #35, etc.

In the previous year, this university ranked at #72. This shows that in the Global MBA rankings, MSU's ranking has declined. According to QS World University Rankings, MSU ranking is #161 in 2026. In 2025, MSU ranked at #152. A decline in the university's QS rankings can be observed, but, even then, this university has managed to stay among the Top 200 Universities in the world in 2025. Subject rankings for the Global MBA course is #80 and for the Masters in Business Analytics course is #37 in 2026.
