It has an average placement rate where the college is promising mainly for branches like CSE, IT, and ECE. Many software industries like TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, and Accenture prefer their candidates from this college. The median salary offered to the students is between INR 4 to 6 LPA and the maximum median wage being offered is INR 12-15 LPA. Achievement of placement rates is lower in core branches than in software-related fields. Broadly for IT, but for core engineering requirements may be a little tough to get good placements for the students.

It has good academic course prospects and fair business prospects, particularly in engineering fields. However, other institutions, including IIT Hyderabad and the NIT Warangal are generally more popular on the System and are normally ranked above it as some of the leading institutions in the region.
Although there have been certain improvements in the infrastructure and student facilities in recent times MLR Institute of Technology is yet to be a tier-2 college.
