Yes, parents can visit their students at TUM Munich. The Munich, Garching & Freising campus are open to the general public. One can come attend lectures, or be part of public events, as part of their visit on campus.

Parents can apply for a Schengen Tourist Visa (Type C),  which allows non EU citizens to enter & stay in the region for a period of maximum 90 days within a 180-day period.

No, the Technical University of Munich does not guarantee student accommodation. It does not maintain dormitories of its own, & the nearby residential halls are run by the Munich Student Union. The institute does however, help students in finding accommodation in Munich, through its online portal, which lists a number of apartments that can be picked up by students.

Yes, it is possible to change the stream at a later point during the studies. To do that, students need to follow the steps given below.

  • Reapply via TUMonline
  • Complete the normal process of admission
  • Satisfy the general requirements
  • The change of programme would be applicable from the start of the new semester

Munich is considered vibrant and inclusive by students who posted their reviews on Shiksha Study Abroad. The public transportation system has received positive reviews. Special discounts are given to International students and one can easilt go to all key places in the city.

The Indian food in the city has been described as not upto the mark & expensive, therefore many students prefer to eat at McDonald's due to better affordability.
