No, admissions to the NIFT Bangalore BDes course are purely entrance-based. The institute conducts an in-house entrance test, i.e., NIFTEE, for admission to BDes courses. Thus, candidates interested in taking admission to this programme must have a valid score in NIFTEE. This exam is divided into two parts: the General Ability Test (GAT) and the Creative Ability Test (CAT). Students who qualify these tests are also required to appear for a subsequent Situation Test. Based on NIFTEE scores, students are ranked and allocated a seat. Moreover, the students must also fulfil the eligibility requirements prescribed by the institute.

In the BDes course, NIFT Bangalore reserves a certain number of seats for candidates belonging to the PwD category. As per the admission brochure for 2025, five percent of the total seats are reserved for the admission of candidates belonging to the PwD category.
