To get admission in NIST Berhampur BTech course and CAT, students must fulfill the basic eligibility criteria and secure good scores in entrance exams. The mode of NIST Berhampur course admissions is online. Admission to various courses is based on merit and the accepted entrance exams such as MAT, XAT,  CAT, ATMA,  OJEE, and others. Candidates willing to get admission must first visit the official website of the college. Then, click on the Apply Now tab. Then, select the required course. Then pay the application fee. National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) is promoted by the SM Charitable Educational Trust. NIST Berhampur is ranked 38th as per All India Rank Among All Institutes by Times Engineering Survey 2024. NIST University students are placed in top companies such as ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, TCS, PwC, Flipkart, Infosys,  and others. NIST has been granted an autonomous college status accorded by the UGC. NIST is NBA-accredited.

NIST Berhampur offers merit-based admission to a few of its UG & PG courses, namely BSc, BCA and MSc. Candidates are offered admission to these courses based on their merit scores obtained in the last qualifying exams of Class 12/ graduation.

NIST Berhampur is ranked 49th by the Times Engineering 2023, 140 by Outlook 2023 under the Engineering (Private) category, and 46th by Times 2023 under the Engineering (Private) category. National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) is promoted by the SM Charitable Educational Trust. The placements offered by the college are also very good. Hence, it is a good college.

NIST BTech admission is a multi-step process. Aspirants must begin with applying for the JEE (Main) as it is the accepted entrance exam for BTech admission. After appearing for the exam, they must register for the JEE counselling of their respective states. 70% of the total seats are filled through OJEE counselling while 15% of the total seats will be based on the JEE counselling of other states. At the time of admission to the BTech programme of NIST Berhampur, selected candidates have to pay an admission seat confirmation fee and a refundable caution deposit. The admission seat confirmation fee at NIST is INR 15,000. The fee amount is later adjusted toward the first instalment of the total BTech fee, which ranges between INR 4.28 lakh and INR 6.48 lakh for four years. Additionally, students must submit a caution deposit of INR 5,000 which will be refunded to them after the completion of the programme.
