- The MAT 2026 May session registrations have started for admission to the MBA course. For the PBT mode, the registration deadline is May 25, 2026, with the exam scheduled for May 31, 2026. For the CBT mode, the last date to register is Jun 8, 2026, for the exam taking place on Jun 14, 2026.
- The JEE Main 2026 registration for session 2 has closed for admission to BTech, BArch and BPlan courses. The session 2 exams will be conducted from Apr 2 to Apr 9, 2026.
- The OJEE 2026 registration window is now closed for admission to the BTech, BPharma, MBA, and MCA programmes. The exam dates are tentatively scheduled for May 4 and May 5, 2026, and from May 7 to May 9, 2026.
- The ATMA 2026 May session registration has started for admission to the MBA/PGDM/MMS courses. The last date to register is Apr 21, 2026, with the exam being scheduled for May 3, 2026.
- The CUET PG 2026 exams were successfully conducted for admission to several PG courses. The results for the same will be announced soon.

Each year, NIST admits over 100 students to its BSc courses. The admission is provided based on the applicants' merit in Class 12. The registration window will be open for approximately a month and the students can lock their choices and get the document verification done after the final seat allotment process is complete.
At the time of admission to the BSc programme of NIST Berhampur, selected candidates have to pay an admission seat confirmation fee and a refundable caution deposit. NIST MBA admission is entrance-based. Admission is provided to the applicants who have a valid score in one of the accepted entrance exams. These exams include OJEE, MAT, CAT and XAT. Aspirants must apply and appear for one of these exams. Additionally, they submit the NIST application form for MBA admission. 70% of the total seats are filled through OJEE counselling. 15% of the total seats are filled through other accepted exams. Shortlisted candidates must report at the NIST campus for document verification. After document verification, candidates must confirm their admission by submitting the specifed MBA fees.

NIST allows direct admission to the third semester of its BTech programme in all specialisations. The admission criteria for lateral entry is as per the JEE norms for lateral entry. Candidates willing to take lateral entry admission to NIST BTech programme must be eligible as per the following eligibility criteria:
- A Diploma of a minimum of three years, with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category)
or
- A BSc degree from a UGC-recognised university, with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and a pass in Class 12 with Mathematics as a subject
