NIST BTech admission is a multi-step process. Aspirants must begin with applying for the JEE (Main) as it is the accepted entrance exam for BTech admission. After appearing for the exam, they must register for the JEE counselling of their respective states. 70% of the total seats are filled through OJEE counselling while 15% of the total seats will be based on the JEE counselling of other states. At the time of admission to the BTech programme of NIST Berhampur, selected candidates have to pay an admission seat confirmation fee and a refundable caution deposit. The admission seat confirmation fee at NIST is INR 15,000. The fee amount is later adjusted toward the first instalment of the total BTech fee, which ranges between INR 4.28 lakh and INR 6.48 lakh for four years. Additionally, students must submit a caution deposit of INR 5,000 which will be refunded to them after the completion of the programme. NIST allows direct admission to the third semester of its BTech programme in all specialisations. The admission criteria for lateral entry is as per the JEE norms for lateral entry. Candidates willing to take lateral entry admission to NIST BTech programme must be eligible as per the following eligibility criteria:
- A Diploma of a minimum of three years, with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category)
or
