It provides great career opportunities to students. In the 2022 placements, as per media reports, 1,274 offers were made. The highest and average package offered stood at INR 46.08 LPA and INR 19.04 LPA, respectively. Moreover, NIRF also ranked NIT Rourkela 15 under the Engineering category in the 2022 rankings. Thus, it is a good college for M.Tech aspirants.

Aspirants have to apply for the GATE exam to pursue M.Tech from NITs. Hence, the applicant must take the GATE exam followed by CCMT counselling. Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria can visit GATE 2023 website (gate.iitk.ac.in) to apply. Further, admission will be granted based on scores in the national-level exam, counselling, and cutoff for NIT Rourkela.

No, admission to the M.Tech courses is only through GATE in NITs. There is no other provision for admission. Furthermore, after GATE, it is also crucial that the candidates with scores equal to or more than the cutoff take part in CCMT counselling. The final selection is based on merit in both selection rounds.

Candidates with a bachelor’s or an equivalent degree in an appropriate branch of Engineering of a minimum four-year duration are eligible to apply. Eligible students further need to take the GATE exam. Candidates are shortlisted based on their GATE score following which they are called for CCMT Counselling. Further, the seat allotment is done on the basis of merit in the national-level exam, counselling, and cutoff for NIT Rourkela.
