Entry into the Indian Navy is mostly through entrance exams like NDA/ NDA (Naval Academy) after class 12 or CDSE/ INET/ NCC entry after graduation. However, there is a provision of direct entry as well after class 12, namely (10+2) B
Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) is the officers' entry under the control of IHQ MoD (Navy)/ DMPR and caters for both Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC). The INET will be conducted twice a year. (a) INET. INET (Officer) is a computer based written examination.

Hii Antony, No. You can not join Merchant Navy after doing Civil Engineering, Either you have to enroll yourself in Junior Ranks Course (GP Rating) on Matric Basis, or you go for Diploma Nautical Science 1 Year / B.Sc. Nautical Science 3 years on 12th Basis. If you have more patience, you can go for B.Tech Marine Engineering.
