NET (National Eligibility Test) is an entrance exam through which candidates are awarded for Junior Research Fellowship and selected for the post of Assistant Professor. The National Eligibility Test was conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education till UGC NET July 2018 Exam but from 2019 onward, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the NET Exam. There is no age limit for the aspirants who will appear in NET Exam for the post of Assistant Professor but for JRF you should not cross 30 years of your age to be eligible. So, these are the basic information for the aspirants who wish to appear in National Eligibility Test.

UGC NET 2018 Eligibility:
Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in their Master's degree exams (in streams such as Humanities, Social Science, Electronic Science, Computer Science and Applications, etc.). From a UGC recognised college/ university fulfill UGC NET 2018 eligibility criteria. It may be noted minimum percentage required to meet UGC NET eligibility criteria for candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwD categories is 50%. Candidates who are appearing or awaiting results for their final year examination of Masters degree are also eligible to appear for UGC NET 2018.
However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and will be considered for JRF and Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor only when they pass their Masters exams with required percentage. Such candidates must complete their PG degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified, informs the official website.
